Algae is a great sign that your vivarium humidity is staying where it needs to be; however it makes observing your fascinating frogs a bit difficult when it is on the front glass.  High humidity and plenty of light make a dart frog vivarium a perfect environment for algae to thrive. Keeping algae at bay can be a full time job, but here are a few things to make it easier.

Clean your vivarium glass with the Josh’s Frogs Terrarium Cleaning Sponge monthly.  This sponge is great at removing algae and other debris.  It also give you a very close clean even removing the smallest of particles off from the glass.  Regular cleaning makes it difficult for algae to gain traction and take over your vivarium.

Know your lighting needs.  Many vivarium plants are able to thrive under natural light that most any LED or CFL lights will produce. When you put lighting on the vivarium that is a higher intensity than required by the plants, you will likely see an increase in algae growth.  So choose the lighting that is right for your vivarium and save your elbows from unnecessary scrubbing.
