Each bag is a precise mixture of charcoal, milled sphagnum moss, fir bark, tree fern, and peat which creates the perfect balance between retaining moisture and proper drainage. Best of all? If you're creating a dart frog habitat, you're definitely going to want a drainage layer under your ABG. Josh's Frogs False Bottom has recently undergone some changes due to our original manufacturer going out of business. This new version is LECA (lightly expanded clay aggregate), which is a natural product made from heated clay. It retains moisture, provides lots of surface area for bacteria and plant roots to grow, and wicks water, which will help maintain humidity in a vivarium.

Back in 2004, Josh set out to create the perfect fruit fly media. Why? There were a lot of issues with ones currently on the market, such as being too runny or smelling wretched. In his apartment, Josh experimented with over 50 different combinations for over a year until one day he perfected the golden recipe! The result? A fruit fly media that not only doesn't stink, it actually smells good, and has the right consistency. Most importantly, it yields an abundance of healthy flies over the course of the culture.
