Supplements
Double check your supplements! After 6 months (from opening) the supplements begin to break down and will eventually stop providing your animals with the nutrition they need.Not sure when you ordered supplements last? UVB Fluorescent Lights
After about 6 months of use, the UVB output for most of these bulbs tends to wear out. Mercury Vapor Bulbs
Mercury Vapor Bulbs need to be replaced after 12 months of use. Leaf Litter
In naturalistic vivarium set-ups, the leaf litter will eventually decompose and need to be replaced. This is a great time to either dump the rest of that left-over bag in the tank, or get some more! Substrates

New Fruit Fly Genes
If you culture your own fruit flies, over time the gene pool can become very small. This can cause your cultures to not produce as well as they always have. If you are doing everything like you always have and seem to be having trouble getting enough fruit flies to produce, this could be why. Replenish Springtails
We recommend replenishing the springtails in your naturalistic vivarium set-up every couple of months for good measure.
