Black Soldier Fly Larvae, Medium (50 count)
Black Soldier Fly (Hermetia illucens) larvae are a great feeder for a wide variety of reptiles, amphibians, birds, and invertebrates. High in calcium, black soldier fly larvae are also known in the trade as Phoenix Worms, ReptiWorms, and CalciWorms. Each container of Black Soldier Fly Larvae - 50 count Medium will contain at least 50 soldier fly larvae ready to feed out as soon as they arrive. Medium Black Soldier Fly Larvae measure approximately 1/4" - 1/2", and make perfect feeders.
How to Feed: Feed soldier fly larvae with tongs, or in a dish. Be careful not to allow solder fly larvae to escape the dish - the larvae will burrow and pupate into adult flies. After they pupate, the larvae emerge as adult black soldier flies, which resemble small wasps. Even though they look intimidating, black soldier flies are harmless. Once the worms began to pupate (if they're not eaten by them), they'll turn black. At this stage, the larvae contain a LOT of calcium, and should be quickly fed to your pets.
How to Store: Soldier Fly Larvae can be kept at room temperature, but keeping them at 50-55F will keep them in the larval stage much longer. Remember, black soldier fly larvae can still be fed out after they pupate. Adult flies can also be fed out!
House Fly Pupae (50 count)
Musca domestica, the common House Fly, are a delicious enrichment food for your reptile or amphibian friend! Josh's Frogs House Fly Pupae (50 count) contains a healthy overcount, as not all pupae will hatch into flies. The pupae are packaged in a small deli cup with wheat bran.
