Coconut Hides x 2

Sometimes called 'Honeymoon huts' by long time dart frog breeders, coconut huts are the breeding shelter of choice for many species of poison dart frogs. Place the coconut hut above half a petri dish, and check for eggs a few times a week. The coconut hut provides a quiet, secluded place for poison dart frogs to court and lay their eggs.

Petri Dish x 20

Petri dishes are used in a poison dart frog vivarium to simulate the smooth side of a leaf - a favorite place for many species of poison dart frogs to lay their eggs. Half a petri dish is placed underneath a coconut hut, then checked frequently for eggs. Once eggs are found, debris is washed out of the petri dish, and the petri dish and egg clutch is then placed in an 8 oz deli cup for incubating. Tadpole tea is used to moisten the eggs 2-3 times a week while in the deli cup.

Indian Almond Leaves (5 pack)

Indian Almond leaves contain tannins that have numerous antibacterial and antifungal properties that help keep poison dart frog tadpoles healthy, as well as lower the pH of tadpole tea. Poison dart frog tadpoles will also feed on indian almond leaves throughout development. At Josh's Frogs, we cut indian almond leaves into 1.5" squares. Each tadpole cup gets 1 square of indian almond leaf in it. Indian almond leaves can also be boiled or soaked in water to produce tadpole tea.

16 oz Tadpole Cups (20 pack)

Josh's Frogs recommends rearing poison dart frog tadpoles individually in 16 oz tadpole cups, due to their cannibalistic nature. The tadpole cup is initially filled with about 8 oz of tadpole tea for new tadpoles, then fill compltely with tadpole tea a week later. Evaporated water is replaced with distilled or reverse osmosis water.

8 oz deli cup and lid x 10

The 8 oz deli cup and lid is where poison dart frog egg clutches will be incubated. Place the petri dish containing eggs in the 8 oz container after pouring a small amount (less than an ounce) of tadpole tea into the bottom of the 8 oz deli cup - this will help prevent your poison dart frog eggs from drying out. Then, cover the deli cup with the lid and label the species/morph the eggs came from. Place the developing egg clutch in an area that will stay between 70 - 76F.

Josh's Frogs Dart Frog Tadpole Food is a great staple diet for dart frog tadpoles. Feed approximately 1 pellet 2 times a week for younger tadpoles, and 2-3 pellets twice a week for larger poison dart frog tadpoles.

Josh's Frogs Dechlorinator Tap Water Conditioner (4oz)

Josh's Frogs Dechlorinator Tap Water Conditioner makes neutral pH or soft tap water safe for tadpoles by neutralizing harmful chlorine or chloramines. If you have particularly hard tap water, or well water, you may want to use R/O or distilled water from a store for your tadpoles.
