About This Product

This kit contains everything you need for the care of 1-5 microgeckos. It includes:

1. Josh's Frogs BioBedding Tropical Bioactive Substrate (4 quarts)

Biobedding Tropical is the perfect substrate for microgeckos, such as Gonatodes, Sphaerodactylus, or mourning geckos. It supports a healthy population of springtails, grows plants well, and helps maintain a higher level of humidity of coconut fiber. Best of all, it already comes seeded with beneficial fungi that will aid in keeping your tank clean and healthy.

2. Mango Leaf Litter (10 count bag)

A good species of durable leaf litter for geckos! Use 1 bag of leaf litter to initially cover the Biobedding as much as possible, then as the leaves break down in 6-8 months, replace with another bag . Leaf litter provides a ton of hides and visual barriers for your microgeckos to utilize, and helps keep moisture in the substrate.

3. Small Vivarium Plant Kit

This plant kit contains species that will thrive in your microgecko's bioactive home. Live plants help maintain high humidity, utilize nutrients to help keep things clean, and look awesome!

4. Cork Pieces

This kit comes with one small and one large piece of cork. Cork provides structure for your gecko to hide in and on, as well as utilize for a basking area.

5. Temperature and Humidity Gauges

Being dependent on their environment for their temperature needs, it is important to keep your micro gecko at it's proper temperature. Ideally, the air temperature on the warm end should be between 70-80F (it will be warmer on the surface of the heat pad) during the day. At night, the temperature can easily drop to 65F, as long as the micro gecko has the ability to raise it's body temperature the next day.

Humidity can be a little trickier with geckos. Too low of a humidity, and the lizard can have trouble shedding – the shed will come off in patches, or become stuck to the animal, instead of coming off in one clean piece with proper humidity. Too high humidity, and the gecko can develop respiratory problems. Generally, an ambient humidity of 60% is fine with micro geckos, as long as a clean bowl of water is present at all times. The enclosure can be misted with dechlorinated, distilled, or reverse osmosis water to increase ambient humidity.

6. Josh's Frogs Spray Bottle (16 oz)

In their natural habitat, micro geckos get moisture from their diet, as well as from morning dew. To replicate this dew, lightly spray the enclosure every night. Make sure to use declorinated, reverse osmosis, or distilled water.

7. Exo Terra 12x12x12 Glass Terrarium

This Exo Terra 12x12x18 Glass Terrarium is ideal for housing a young micro gecko. A screen top provides adequate ventilation for the animal, while insuring that it does not escape, or other pets/children do not easily get in to the habitat. Front opening doors make accessing your pet micro gecko easy. We do recommend siliconing the top onto the frame, to prevent escapes. Filling in the holes along the back top may be a good idea - otherwise these tiny lizards may make an escape!

8. Vivarium Safe Silicone (10.2 oz) Black

This animal safe silicone can be used with a caulk gun to seal the screen top of the cage to the frame, blocking off the back vents and ensuring a tight fit that these tiny geckos cannot squeeze through. This step is optional, but we silicone tops down on all exo terras used with microgeckos at Josh's Frogs.

9. Temperate Springtail (Collembola) Culture (32 oz)

These tiny tank janitors will eat waste and help keep the enclosure clean and tidy. The plants will use their waste to grow! Many microgeckos, especially babies, may eat springtails. Simply release the ensure contents of the container into your biobedding and let them take hold.

10. Exo Terra MINI Compact Top (11.8” x 3.5” x 5.9”) and Exo Terra Reptile UVB 100 Tropical Terrarium Bulb (26 Watt)

This stylish fixture and bulb will provide a source of UVB (and a little heat) for your microgeckos to utilize and help your plants grow. Change out the bulb every 6 months, and leave the lights on a 12 on / 12 off light cylce so your gecko gets to experience day and night.
