It's a screen lid
It does it's job. It keeps my lizard in and my cat out. I have a 15 lbs cat and she sits on it and it holds, but I don't recommend doing that because it terrifies the animal (I shove mine off). But anyway, it fits my 20L aquarium great and does its job.
