Defining Characteristics: 

• An epitome of carpet plants that creeps over the bottom with miniature rounded leaves
• One of the smallest species of aquatic plants on the planet
• Considered an intermediate aquatic plant, a similar easier growing species is Micranthemum Monte carlo, but ‘Monte Carlo’ has a slightly slower growth rate.

Care Notes: Although generally not a fussy plant, this species is sensitive to warmer water (above 78°F) which may inhibit growth. CO2 supplementation is highly recommended. The shallow roots of this species make it difficult to stay secured in the substrate. In this case, a dry start can help by allowing time for the roots to anchor into the substrate before flooding the tank.
