About This Product

Josh's Frogs Coco Disks are created from coconut husk, sometimes called coco fiber, coconut fiber, or simply coco. Josh's Frogs Coco Disks (6 disks) weighs .75 lbs, or 340g. Each individual coco disk weighs .125 lbs, or 57g. Each Coco Husk Disk will expand when soaked in dechlorinated water. Coco Husk is absorbent, easy to clean and facilitates burrowing. Clean, comfortable, and competitively priced!

Josh's Frogs Coconut Beddings and Substrates are direct from a family owned production facility in Sri Lanka. All of the coconut bedding with the Josh's Frogs label on it is organically grown, 100% biodegradable, and environmentally friendly. Josh's Frogs Coconut Substrates are 100% safe for your plants and pets!

How to Prep: Soak for 15-30 minutes, or until coco fiber is expanded and there are no dry spots remaining. Each Coco Disk will expand to 4-6 times its original volume, based on the amount of water used. Josh's Frogs Dechlorinator Tap Water Conditioner will make your tap water safe. Only soak what you plan to use, do not store wet.

Recommended Animals: Coco Disks are perfect for a wide range of lizards, snakes, tortoises, salamanders, frogs and other reptiles and amphibians that require moderate to high humidity. Coco Husk is ideal for spiders, scorpions, tarantulas, millipedes, and other invertebrates as well!

Recommended Plants: Josh's Frogs Coconut Substrates can also be used in horticulture as a growing medium, moisture retainer, soil conditioner, mulching agent, or root developer for home, garden, or commercial purposes. Coconut fiber can retain 8-9 times its weight in water. In addition to water, coconut fiber does a great job absorbing nutrients, aerating soil, and promoting healthy root growth.

  • Artificial Plants (when used straight as animal bedding)

 Suitable for Misted Setups: No.

Care: Coco Fiber can dry out, so monitor your humidity levels and mist as needed. Spot clean as you see messes. Completely change out every 6 months to a year, or as you feel is needed.

Worked well for my background

I used this to add texture to the background of my dart frog terrarium.

Very useful, but can be hard

I really like this product. I used it for my Madagascar Hissing Cockroach, and I currently use it for my Praying Mantids, as well as other insects. It holds moisture extremely well. My only complaint is that it can be hard to get the disk to turn into soil. The disk sometimes does not soak all the way through, and can be a bit of a pain When this happens, I just break up what is left of the disk by hand, and it works perfectly fine.

Great design, Gecko loves it

I love this design because you’re able to choose how many quarts you use. The substrate is great! My gecko loves it!
