Josh's Frogs Substrate Barrier is a vital layer in all successful naturalistic vivaria. Substrate Barrier fits between the false bottom and ABG Mix layers, and ensures that no ABG Mix falls down into the false bottom, disrupting water flow.
Josh's Frogs Substrate Barrier also prevents a clogged false bottom and the wicking of water from the false bottom into the other naturalistic vivarium substrate layers.When these substrate layers become saturated, anaerobic bacteria grow, which create a smelly, very unhealthy environment. The only solution is to replace the affected naturalistic vivarium substrates with new ones. Josh's Frogs Substrate Barrier is simple, inexpensive, and effective way to prevent this situation from happening.

Versatile
The size was great because it can be cut to accommodate the size of the terrarium and can be edited to make room for tubing for the drainage layer. It does an excellent job of separating the substrate from the drainage layer and allows for easy drainage.

Excellent
The piece was 18x24, so I just folded the excess... my only complaint is that not having 18x18 and having to fold the excess lead to imperfections in my corners.

Works as it should
Does exactly what it says it should. I folded mine to fit my terrarium so it might be too thick for water to run down, so it should probably be cut to size instead. Otherwise a great product.
