Murdannia loriformis 'Bright Star' is a member of the Commelinaceae family of plants and is pretty rare to find for sale. Initially one might think just by looking at this plant that it might be related to Cryptanthus as it does have that look, but it is actually closely related to Spiderwort.

Murdannia loriformis 'Bright Star' works great as a houseplant as it is easy to grow and has a great look. It can grow to about 16" tall and can get just as wide but pruning can keep it under control. It does flower on long, thin spikes but the highlight of this unique plant is not so much the flowers as it is the foliage. The leaves of Murdannia loriformis 'Bright Star' have a soft, leathery texture with a wavy edge. The color is green with a light striping down the center.

Keep in bright, indirect light for best color and water when top one inch of soil becomes dry.

Container Gardens/Terrariums/Houseplant:

Murdannia loriformis 'Bright Star' would make a terrific houseplant as it's unusual and hard to find. It will also do well in a terrarium, but because of its size, it would have to be a larger terrarium.
