About This Product

LIVE ARRIVAL GUARANTEED if your temps fall within our LAG (read here). Please check your temps before ordering!

We cannot ship this species to Florida and Oregon!

Porcellio scaber 'Orange' are a hardy species of isopod and produce quickly once established. Orange Isopods are large, active, and very colorful. If you're looking to keep these isopods outside of a vivarium, we'd recommend keeping them on our Isopod Substrate, or even better using our Isopod Culturing KitJosh's Frogs MilliMix substrate is also a fantastic option.

In rare cases, starving isopods may attempt to consume the carapace of freshly molted invertebrates or even gnaw on small or delicate reptiles or amphibians. We strongly recommend providing supplemental food to your clean up crew in the enclosure, such as Josh's Frogs CUC Cuisine. When in doubt, using dwarf species of isopods, such as Dwarf Tropical Whites, may be a safer option.

Please read the following article on keeping and culturing isopods: HOW TO KEEP AND CULTURE ISOPODS

Great buy! Never been happier with a purchase!

I literally bought these guys almost 2 years ago at the time of writing this, to this day I can go look at my leopard gecko terrarium and see happy and healthy isopods running around. These guys are some of the most resilient isopods out there, easy to care for, easy to breed in a bioactive setup, and a great little snack for reptiles and amphibians alike! They also help clean the tank so less work for me! I started out with 10 of them 2 years ago (in a 20 gallon long bioactive terrarium) and if I was to estimate, I'd say I have about 100- 200 if not more hiding out in there now with how many I see scurrying about. Also really cool to see them dig tunnels along the side of the glass (helps with plants roots also). Would 100 percent recommend these guys for slightly more arid setups. To humid can sometime not be well for them.
