Schefflera arboricola variegated is a very popular and common houseplant also known as the Umbrella Tree. An evergreen shrub, it features glossy, dark green foliage with 7-9 leaflets upon each stem that are held upwards and out in a symmetrical circle like an outstretched umbrella. Its appealing leaf design and tolerance to neglect are the main qualities that have led to its popularity. This particular variety of Shefflera has green rounded leaves with some flashes of gold through them. Low to high lighting is generally well tolerated by this plant, and it is just as forgiving on the watering spectrum, although it would prefer to be kept generally moist and slightly drying out between waterings. It cannot tolerate standing water, and will do better in brighter lighting, however.

Container Gardens/Terrariums/Houseplant:

Schefflera arboricola variegated probably isn’t suitable for most container gardens only due to its size. As previously mentioned, it is a very popular houseplant that is easy to care for. Simply provide it an appropriate sized pot, upgrading the size as needed, and use a good quality potting soil. It is noted for its ability to help remove toxins and clean the air.

Vivariums/Animal Terrariums:

Due to the size of this plant, use only in larger vivariums/terrariums. This plant would however work great with Chameleons and in Chameleon enclosures.
