  • Low fat
  • High Protein - 5x more than superworms or mealworms, 3x more than crickets
  • High in trace elements and B vitamins
  • Easy to digest
  • Easy to care for, long lived

Silkworms are larva of the moth Bombyx mori. Used for centuries to product silk, these caterpillars are surprisingly nutritious, as they are low in fat, relatively high in calcium, contain a significant amount of protein, and are very high in trace elements and B vitamins. Their soft outer covering means they are also easily digestible, and their movement speed and motion makes them appealing targets for any insectivorous reptiles or amphibians.

Silkworms are great feeders for bearded dragons, leopard geckos, water dragons, chameleons, Pac-Man frogs, and many other insectivorous reptiles and amphibians.

How to Store: Silkworms are also easy to care for and long lived if kept appropriately. At room temperature, they will grow approximately 1/4 inch a week. At higher temps (we keep them at 80°F), they can grow up to 1/2 inch a week. We provide enough food in their 8 oz. deli containers to grow the silkworms to approximately 1.5 inches in length. Make sure the food does not dry out, or else the silkworms will not be able to consume it. A small spray of water can help keep humidity up, but do not allow silkworms to come in contact with standing water. Silkworms eat mulberry leaves or a prepared diet that is mulberry based. Periodically remove silkworm waste as it builds up in the container. Their waste looks like small, dark balls.

How to Feed: Silkworms can be tong or bowl fed, or allowed to wander in the habitat for a short time before they are eaten. These larva are rather clumsy, making bowl feeding very effective.

Slow moving & easy to dust

I bought the small 25 ct and they arrived alive. They are slow moving and my newly juvenile leopard gecko love them. I got him when he was 4 months old and had only been giving him freeze dried mealworms & crickets to help him adapt. Then I heard about this website & wanted to experience a live feed. They were the perfect size and soft exoskeleton for easy dinner. Next time I'll get a bigger count because he finished them all in a week

Satisfied

Silkworms were perfect size and I have a happy gecko! I have a rescue leopard gecko who was severely malnutrition and has MBD problems. I have done some research and silkworm have been know to have anti-inflammatory properties, now i dont know if thats 100% true but my little guy loves them and it puts something else in his diet. This little guy has problems with worms that are to large so its nice to beable to buy small ones and have plenty of time for them to grow a little
