This kit is designed to help you care for various species of native tadpoles. At Josh's Frogs, we often are contacted by concerned customers who want to be able to collect tadpoles to raise for their children, or want help with tadpoles "rescued" from a pool or drying puddle. If you choose to attempt this, please be aware of your local laws.

1. Plastic Enclosure

This plastic enclosure is a perfect enclosure for a small group of tadpoles. It'll hold a couple gallons of water, which, coupled with the other products included in the kit, will provide a home for up to a few dozen tadpoles.

2. Air Pump, Airline tubing, and Airstones

Moving water can hold more oxygen, which is vital to the survival of many types of tadpoles (and us!). Oxygenated water will also contain more beneficial bacteria, which will lend to cleaner water conditions. This air pump, tubing, and air stone will help keep your tadpoles breathing and water cleaner.

3. Indian Almond Leaves

Indian Almond Leaves naturally leech tannins into the water, which provide healthier conditions for your tadpoles. The leaf surface is also a great place for the tadpoles to hide and browse for food. Plus, many tadpole species will even eat the leaves themselves! Simply places the leaves in the water and let them sink to the bottom.

4. Josh's Frogs Dechlorinator (4 oz.)

Josh's Frogs Dechlorinator will render many harmful chemicals that may be present in your tap water completely harmless. Use 2 drops per gallon of water, and allow all tap water to stand at room temperature for 24 hours before use. Make sure to change water regularly in the tadpole tank - at least 2-3 times a week, if not daily. Never change more than half the water.

5. Tree Frog & Toad Tadpole Bites

Without knowing the exact nutritional needs of each species of frog out there, Frog and Tadpole Bites are a great 'all around' food for many different species of tadpoles. These granules can be easily crushed to feed smaller tadpoles. Feed as much as can be eaten in a couple hours, twice a day. If food starts to mold underwater, remove it.

Please remember that this tadpole kit is meant to help care for a wide variety of different tadpole species. The recommendations and products needed to  raise tadpoles may vary depending on species. Please know your laws, and make sure that collecting tadpoles for raising is legal in your area.
