Nephrolepis biserrata 'Macho' is a variety of boston fern that has a nice 'droopy' texture. Approximately 24" tall when mature, Nephrolepis biserrata 'Macho' could be trimmed back to fit a smaller tank. We think this fern would be spectacular in a tank, or it would make a great plant for a hanging basket.

Nephrolepis biserrata 'Macho' is a great terrestrial plant, and should be planted in the substrate towards the back of the vivarium.

Nephrolepis biserrata 'Macho' appreciates a humid, moderately wet environment. Do not let Nephrolepis biserrata 'Macho' dry out between waterings, but do not plant it in soggy soil either! Nephrolepis biserrata 'Macho' will grow better under moderate to high light. Nephrolepis biserrata 'Macho' appreciates a bit of air flow, as do most other ferns. Nephrolepis biserrata 'Macho' is a moderate/slow grower, and will eventually send out rhizomes (green root-like projections) that will bud new ferns. When kept in ideal conditions, Nephrolepis biserrata 'Macho' can spread throughout a tropical vivarium, and may need to be pruned. Nephrolepis biserrata 'Macho' makes a great accent plant, provides visual barriers and hiding places, and really adds a tropical feel to the home vivarium.
