The Josh's Frogs Terrestrial Salamander & Newt Complete Kit contains everything you need to keep a young or small caudate alive and healthy. This kit is designed to meet the care needs of many newt and salamander species, however, make sure to research the specific needs of your pet to ensure this kit is appropriate for it.

It includes:

1. Plastic Enclosure

This is the perfect enclosure for a young terrestrial newt or salamander, or smaller species. The plastic enclosure is easy to clean, light weight, and allows for easy viewing of your pet caudate.

2. Josh's Frogs Coco Brick

This is the perfect substrate for most species of newts and salamanders, which love to burrow. Made from envionmentally friendly ground coconut husk, Josh's Frogs Coco Brick quickly absorbs water, making it very easy to expand and increase the humidity in the enclosure. Josh's Frogs Coco Brick comes in a compacted brick. Just soak it in dechlorinated water, let it expand, then squeeze all the excess water out of it before use. Generally, you'll want about 3-5” of Coco Brick at the bottom of your terrarium.

3. Artificial Plant

Artificial Plants are both realistic and easy to clean. Artificial plants not only add to the looks of a newt and salamander enclosure - they also provide hiding places and visual barriers.

4. Water Dish

Water Dishes are constructed from a high-density resin, that replicates rock and facilitates easy cleaning. The Water Dish should be cleaned every day by scrubbing it under hot water. Fresh water should be provided for your animals every day. Make sure to use dechlorinator if you are using tap water.

5. Digital Thermometer/Hygrometer

Keeping track of your pet salamander or newt's humidity is important, and the Exo Terra Analog hygrometer allows you to do just that! Simply peel of the adhesive cover off the back of the hygrometer, and adhere it to the inside/back/center of your pet's enclosure. Caudates appreciate a humidity of about 60-80%. If the humidity is too low, either add water to the substrate or mist your pet's enclosure.

Newts and Salamanders generally need to be kept in the 60s or 70s F - make sure to research the exact temperature requirements for the species you are keeping. The Exo Terra Analog thermometer allows you to check your pet's temperature. Simply peel of the adhesive cover off the back of the thermometer, and adhere it to the inside/back/center of your enclosure.

6. Small Cork Flat

This small cork flat will provide the perfect place for your pet newt or salamander to hide under. It may choose to hang out here instead of burrowing.

7. Josh's Frogs Spray Bottle

Mist your pet caudate 1-2 times a day, to provide a humid environment. Mist using r/o or distilled water.

8. Josh’s Frogs Dechlorinator (4 oz)

Use with water to pull out harmful chlorine. This will help provide the best water for your pet.
